21. Your high school memories include those days that school was canceled due to tear gas. We haven't experienced tear gas, but our boys have had school cancelled here due to kidnapping threats (state-wide) a few years ago and they regularly do earthquake drills.

22. You feel odd being in the ethnic majority. It does feel odd when we are in Canada and can "blend-in"...at least looks-wise.

23. You are accused by your friends of being a maniacal driver, and you're driving just like dad taught you to. :) driving is interesting and fun over here, and sometimes not so fun. You do need to be very much aware of what is going on all around you.

24. You marvel at the cleanliness of gas station bathrooms. Enough said.

25. Someone asks you where you enjoy hanging out and you immediately think of happy hours spent in international airports. Love airports, and even the thought of a 7 hour layover on our way back to Guadalajara later on August doesn't seem so bad to me ;)

26. You go to a church you have never been in before and find your pictures on their bulletin board.

27. The sole finally comes off your favorite pair of shoes, so you go looking for the itinerant shoe repair man who will fix 'em better than new, right there on the sidewalk while you wait. So maybe our shoe repair man is not on the sidewalk and we do have to wait one day, but we really can have shoes repaired for a good price! We have saved quite a bit on the kid's footwear this way, we have taken 3 pairs of sandals and had them fixed for $10 total.

28. You used to hate hand-me-down clothes, but when a friend leaves an old shirt at your place that happens to fit, you wear it often because it reminds you of your friend. We are all for hand-me-downs, especially for the boys! But it is true....we have to admit that friends that have visited us in MX have left a couple of things and we do wear them.

29. You get nostalgic about sleeping every night in the summer under mosquito netting, after the bed has been dusted and the air sprayed, and little green spirally things are burning in every room of the house. Yes I did sleep under a nice pink mosquito net as a child!

30. The best word for something is the word you learned first, and you still use those words, even if you know what they are in English. Certain words automatically come out in Guarani, and certain ones in Spanish. And our kids only know certain words in Spanish also.

31. You mesclar your idiomas without thinking about it. In other words, you mix up your languages without thinking about it.

32. Your best friends live thousands of miles away. For our kids right now, their best friends live right here in the city. However, they have had best friends move away and one of Logan's best friends is moving away in June. I feel blessed to have best friends in several different countries!! Some right here in Gdl, and others spread out over South and North America.

33. When you were younger, you thought your dad wrote letters for his job. Well if you ask Logan and Brady, they will tell you our job is to work on the computer...thankfully Carter at least understands!

34. You still hesitate before drinking water straight from the tap. (Which we don't do here)

35. You raise sheep, learn line dancing, or go skydiving just to have an excuse to be weird. This one made me laugh.
